The Blood

Britische Punk/Oi!-Band mit Metal-Einflüssen, gegründet 1982 in London von The Cardinal alias Colin Smith (vcl), J.J. alias J.J. Bedsore alias Jamie Cantwell (g, vcl), Muttly (e-b) und Napoleon Evo Moby Dick Tankhead III alias Paul Evo (dm).

 

"False Gestures for a Devious Public" (Noise, 1983) hiess ein erstes Album. Paul Evo stieg danach aus, um mit Warfare eine eigene Band zu gründen. Auf der 7"-EP "Megalomania" (No Future, 1983) sass ein Musiker namens Dr. Wildthing am Schlagzeug.

 

"Se Parare Nex" (Conquest, 1985) war als nächstes eine 12"-EP mit der neuen Rhythmusgruppe Snake (e-b) und Mark Brabbs (dm). "South London 5 Hull 4 (Full Time Result)" (Link, 1988) hiess eine Split-LP mit The Gonad. Dann blieb es jahrlang ruhig von The Blood. Sänger Cardinal Smith stieg bis 2004 aus.

 

In der Besetzung J.J. Bedsore und Gareth Powell (g, vcl), Gaz de Groot (e-b, vcl) und Shane Atlas (dm) legte die Gruppe ihr zweites Album "Smell Yourself" (Blind Beggar, 1996) vor. Nach der 7"-EP "Boots" (Blind Beggar, 1997) folgte das dritte Album "Spillage" (RnB, 1999).

 

Die Band bestand aus J.J. Bedsore (g, vcl), Gaz de Groot (e-b) und Brad Sims (dm). Bedsore starb am 20. Juli 2004 an multiplem Organversagen. The Blood tauchte erst 2006 mit einer Single sowie zwei Jahre später mit dem akustischen Album "Punk@TheOpera" (2008) wieder auf.

 

"More Blood" (Link, 2009) war als nächstes eine Compilation und "@Thebodysnatchersball" (2010) ein weiteres, selber herausgebrachtes Akustikalbum. Ab 2013 bestand The Blood aus The Cardinal (vcl), Tony Alador (g, vcl), Sonic Offender (e-b) und Miguel Conflict (dm).

 

"Chorus of Legends" (2014) war ein weiteres Lebenszeichen in Form einer CD-EP. Im selben Jahr erschienen mit "Spattered" (Puke N Vomit, 2022) und "Total Megalomania" (Radiation, 2022) zwei sich überschneidende Sammlungen mit Compilation-Beiträgen, Tracks von Singles, EPs sowie anderen Raritäten.                                            02/26
